Cinema Akil presents DETERMINED! an American Film Showcase program dedicated to those who defied all expectations and achieved the impossible. To those whose courage and unstoppable determination are a source of inspiration.
The program will tour in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi between December 2018 and March 2019.
About the American Film Showcase
The American Film Showcase brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent fiction films, and documentary know-how to audiences around the world, offering a view of American society and culture as seen by independent filmmakers. Funded by a grant from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and produced by the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), the Showcase joins local embassies and partners to highlight the value of film in fostering understanding and cooperation, dialogue and debate.
About the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019:
Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 is the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world next year, welcoming 7,000 athletes from more than 170 nations to participate in 24 officially-sanctioned Olympic-style sports from 14-21 March 2019. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces, Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi will be the first ever Special Olympics World Games to be held in the Middle East and North Africa, and will also be the most unified Games in the 50-year history of the Special Olympics movement. Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 forms an integral part of local, national and regional plans to expand opportunities for people of determination in line with Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s shared vision of a unified and inclusive society.

From Sheikh Zayed Road, take the Al Manara exit (Exit 43) into Al Quoz. Go straight on Al Manara Street until you reach the traffic light facing Home Centre. At this junction, turn right. Continue straight then turn right onto 17th Street, before the Avenue. At the end of the road, turn left onto 6A Street for parking.
The closest metro station to Alserkal Avenue is Noor Bank station. From there, you will need to take a taxi to our location.

from Abu Dhabi: From Mina (port) area or the Abu Dhabi Corniche, take Sheikh Khalifa Bridge onto Sheikh Khalifa Highway. Take Exit 11 (same exit as St. Regis and Park Hyatt hotels) and turn right following the road signs to the Campus. Drive straight over the bridge, and then make a left at the first junction. Passing the campus on your left, make a U-turn back to access the parking garages.
from Dubai: Take Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road toward Abu Dhabi. On Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road take the Saadiyat Island Exit or Yas Island Exit onto Sheikh Khalifa Highway. Take Exit 11 (same exit as St. Regis and Park Hyatt hotels) and turn left following the road signs to the Campus. Drive straight over the bridge, and then make a left at the first junction.
