Cinema Akil presents FIERCE! Part II an American Film Showcase, the continuation of a program dedicated to the women who shook the ground they stood on… to the girls who threw the ball beyond all limits…to the strong, bold and courageous risk-takers, homemakers, glass ceiling breakers..to the women who take the world on and never stop.
The second edition of FIERCE! Part II focuses on female success, failures, curiosities and preoccupations and puts women's perspectives front and center on the big screen for the Cinema Akil community. The program will tour in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
About the American Film Showcase
The American Film Showcase brings award-winning contemporary American documentaries, independent fiction films, and documentary know-how to audiences around the world, offering a view of American society and culture as seen by independent filmmakers. Funded by a grant from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and produced by the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts (SCA), the Showcase joins local embassies and partners to highlight the value of film in fostering understanding and cooperation, dialogue and debate.
About Cinema Akil
Cinema Akil is an independent cinema platform that brings quality films from across the world to the audiences in the UAE. Showcasing directors and filmmakers across the decades, Cinema Akil aims to create awareness and interest in film and the cinematic arts. Launched in 2014 as a nomadic cinema, Cinema Akil has held over 60 pop-up nomdic cinemas attracting over 35,000 attendees in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. In September 2018, Cinema Akil opened its first permanent location in Al Quoz, Dubai making it the GCC’s first arthouse cinema. From Sheikh Zayed Road, take the Al Manara exit (Exit 43) into Al Quoz. Go straight on Al Manara Street until you reach the traffic light facing Home Centre. At this junction, turn right. Continue straight then turn right onto 17th Street, before the Avenue. At the end of the road, turn left onto 6A Street for parking.
The closest metro station to Alserkal Avenue is Noor Bank station. From there, you will need to take a taxi to our location.

From Dubai on the E11: Take Saadiyat Island/Yas Island exit on to Sheikh Khalifa Highway E12 and drive across Yas Island to Saadiyat Island. Follow road signs off highway to Manarat Al Saadiyat.

from Abu Dhabi: From Mina (port) area or the Abu Dhabi Corniche, take Sheikh Khalifa Bridge onto Sheikh Khalifa Highway. Take Exit 11 (same exit as St. Regis and Park Hyatt hotels) and turn right following the road signs to the Campus. Drive straight over the bridge, and then make a left at the first junction. Passing the campus on your left, make a U-turn back to access the parking garages.
from Dubai: Take Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road toward Abu Dhabi. On Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road take the Saadiyat Island Exit or Yas Island Exit onto Sheikh Khalifa Highway.
