Welcoming a brand new season of public film screenings at Alserkal Avenue, Cinema Akil returns to The Yard once a month with a lineup celebrating the finest in a broad spectrum of must-see contemporary, international films, spanning the past decade.
Curated with a wide range of audiences in mind, the film programme by Cinema Akil explores Alserkal Programming’s Fall Programme thematic, Maintenance, which over the 2018-2019 Fall, Spring, and Summer seasons, will invite a multi-disciplinary selection of practices and voices to explore three definitions of maintenance taken from the technical realm; preventative, corrective and predictive.

Alserkal Avenue is the region’s foremost arts and culture neighbourhood located in Al Quoz, Dubai. Since it was established in 2007, Alserkal Avenue has grown to become an essential platform for the development of homegrown artistic and cultural initiatives, supporting a vibrant community of contemporary art galleries and alternative art spaces, together with design, media and industrial studios. From Sheikh Zayed Road, take the Al Manara exit (Exit 43) into Al Quoz.Go straight on Al Manara Street until you reach the traffic light facing Home Centre. At this junction, turn right. Continue straight then turn right onto 17th Street,before the Avenue.At the end of the road, turn left onto 6A Street for parking. The Yard is in between Nadi Al Quoz and Concrete.
The closest metro station to Alserkal Avenue is Noor Bank station. From there, you will need to take a taxi to our location.
